Fast T1
“There is more to life than simply increasing its speed.”—Gandhi
Gandhi obviously never used the internet….
First, let’s clear up the misconceptions about “internet speed”.
Yes, some DSL lines and cable modems have higher “theoretical speeds” than a Fast T1.
In theory, a bumble bee can’t fly either, but no one ever told a bumble bee that.
In reality your internet experience involves many factors, the amount of work your computer is doing at any given time (hey, kind of like real life), the quality of your internet connection and the quality of the internet connection at the other end of your desired internet destination. With DSL & Cable Modem, your speeds can vary widely because they are shared connection which is why they both are typically used for residential applications. The joke has often been with home based teleworkers; “School’s out, the internet is crawling again”.
So why is a Fast T1 more expensive than DSL, especially if the DSL/Cable could be “faster”?
A Fast T1 is a dedicated, always on, guaranteed to work 99.9999% of the time, internet connection with a 4 hour window to repair compared to a best effort service with DSL/Cable. Best effort means “We’re sorry it doesn’t work, we don’t know when it will work, but you still have to pay”.
With a Fast T1, usually the Service Level Agreement spells out specific refund amounts for time lost because of a down service condition. In fact, many DSL providers will provision 2 T1’s to 96 DSL users to share the bandwidth. This is called oversubscribing the lines and that’s how cable/DSL companies make money. Also, because a Fast T1 is normally a business level service, the customer service lines are answered more quickly and staffed by senior level customer service reps who can generally resolve issues on the first call.
Beware however, there are some “cheap” T1 providers that offer well under market pricing, in many cases, they are oversubscribing the T1 service also, so “caveat emptor” and only buy your T1 service through Fastt1.com to avoid those types of problems.
I can’t get DSL or Cable Modem, can I get a Fast T1?
There are many factors that go into providing DSL/Cable modem service beyond just the phone call to order it. However, with Fast T1, you can usually get them anywhere there is phone service without the distance limitations of DSL/Cable Modem.
You can check, INSTANTLY, on Fastt1.com to see prices and availability for your area…
